Panasonic G2 là phiên bản nâng cấp của G1 với nhiều cải tiến mới.

Máy ảnh có độ phân giải 12,1 Megapixel cùng khả năng quay phim chuẩn HD và sử dụng chip Venus Engine HD II.

Máy này có màn hình LCD 3 inch cảm ứng. Lấy nét và chụp ảnh bằng cách chạm vào màn hình cảm ứng là một nét thú vị từ G2. (Xem video clip trình diễn chức năng này.

Cùng thời điểm này, Panasonic còn ra mắt thêm ống kit mới tiêu cự ngắn 14-42 mm F3.5-5.6, đồng thời cũng nhẹ hơn một chút so với ống kit 14-45 mm trước đây.
